Annual Meeting

2019 Annual Meeting- Planning For A Great One!

Each year, South River EMC is pleased to offer an opportunity to all member-owners of the Cooperative to gather for fellowship and to hear of the business of their Cooperative. This event is the Annual Meeting of Members, which will be held April 11, 2019 at the Crown Arena and Theatre in Fayetteville.

The following directors were nominated by a committee on nominations, which met January 3:

District 4: Jeffrey Martin
District 6: Dr. E. Sue Godwin-Baker
District 8: Clifton McNeill Jr.

You can vote for directors at the annual meeting of members.

An Opportunity For Local Photographers

Do you enjoy taking photos? If so, we have just the activity for you. South River EMC is hosting an amateur photo contest and we want to see your handy work.

All photos must be taken somewhere in the five counties served by South River EMC and feature landscape, buildings, landmark or anything you think defines our communities.

As long as there are sufficient entries, we will have adult, high school (grades 9-12), middle school (grades 6-8) and elementary school (1-5) categories. The adult division will have a first, second and third place winner. A single winner will be selected from each of the high school, middle school and elementary school categories. There must be a minimum of entries by three different photographers for each category in order for that category to be considered for judging.

Photos will be on display at each South River EMC office March 25-April 5 and at the South River EMC Annual Meeting of Members on April 11 at the Crown Center. Members can view the photos and cast their vote for their favorite photo from each category. The photo that receives the most votes from each category will be declared the winner.

Photographs must be a minimum of 3” x 5” and a maximum of 8”x 10”. All photos must be mounted on a flat rigid cardboard or mat board. Each photo should have an accompanying description of the photo including the significance of the subject and where it was photographed (including city/community and county). This description must be printed on an 8 ½ x 11’ sheet of white paper. Photographer’s name, address and phone number must be on the back of the mounted image. All submissions must be submitted along with a signed copy of the contest rules. The deadline for submissions is March 22, 2019.

Arena Entertainment (6-7:25 p.m.) Rivermist

The evening’s entertainment will be provided by Rivermist.

Formed in Fayetteville in 2014, the classic rock/variety band is a collaboration of musicians: Greg Adair, drums and backing vocals; Tony Harrison, bass; Allen Pier, lead and backing vocals, keyboards; Doug Bass, keyboard, lead and backing vocals; Cliff Bender, lead guitar.

Desiring to preserve a genre of music familiar to their roots, these individuals have been playing in and around the area for more than twenty years. Rivermist has been voted: Best Local Band (2016, 2017 and 2018) by local publications. Shows are relaxed, but intensively performed. Realizing success will be judged by their fans, Rivermist’s harmonies, as well as the musicianship, is something to be experienced.

Vendor Bazaar (6- 7:30 p.m.)
Each year we welcome around 50 or so vendors with fun, interesting and helpful products. Come ready to pick up a must needed item, or just to shop around. We welcome new and favorite vendors each year.

Children's Area (6- 9 p.m.)
The Kids’ Korner offers a safe, secure, fun place for you to leave your children (ages 4 to 12-years-old) while you enjoy the entertainement. This year we will have Magic by David; face painting; balloon twisting; an inflatable obstacle course and bounce house; and a smokehouse. Sign kids up in the Kids’ Korner section and then pick them up by 9:00 p.m. from the arena.
