Members’ Cents Make Sense For Community Enhancement

In June, the Community Assistance Corporation, or CAC, a not-for-profit foundation established by South River EMC, funded nine different non-profit and educational programs with grants totaling $56,202.16. Projects are funded through the electric cooperative’s Operation Round Up program.

Closing- Monday, May 25

South River EMC offices will be closed Monday, May 25 in observance of Memorial Day. We wish everyone a happy and safe day! Offices will reopen Tuesday.

Planned Outage Information For May 17

South River EMC members in the areas of Godwin, Dunn, Newton Grove and Highway 13 around the Cumberland/ Sampson line areas will experience an approximately 4 hour outage beginning at 12 a.m., Sunday, May 17. This outage is due to maintenance work.

Also on May 17, between 2-4 a.m., members in the Four Oaks and the Mill Creek areas will experience a roughly 15 minute outage.


South River EMC’s Power Source Volunteers Award Six Scholarships

South River Electric Membership Corporation’s Power Source Volunteers awarded scholarships this year to six admirable high school seniors.

Kirsten Steininger, daughter of Robert and Cynthia Steininger of Eastover, will receive a $1,000 scholarship to attend UNC-Chapel Hill and obtain a degree in chemistry.

Planned Outage For May 3

Due to a pay-per-view fight we've been notified about, the outage planned for May 3 will now begin at 2 a.m. The outage is still expected to last 15 minutes in Western Harnett, Anderson Creek, Spring Lake, and Linden areas. Members in the Maxwell Road area can expect a blink between 2 and 4 a.m. We thank you for sharing this information.

Martin Honored At Cooperative Meeting

The wife of Carlton Martin was presented with the Order of the Long Leaf Pine for her late husband at the South River EMC Annual Meeting on April 23 in Fayetteville. Martin served as a director on the board of South River EMC for 30 years.

South River EMC Appoints New Director

Jeffrey Martin, 56, has been appointed to fill the unexpired term of Carlton Martin on the South River EMC Board of Directors.

Although Jeffrey Martin is the son of deceased board member, Carlton Martin, this appointment was not automatic. In order to ensure the Cooperative members are served by the best representative, the board welcomed applications from members living in District 4 and conducted interviews.

It’s No April Fools! Bright Ideas Kicked Off April 1

As the end of the school year is quickly approaching, everyone is considering their summer plans. From vacations to preparation for the 2015-2016 school year, many educators are thinking one thing, will I have what I need in my classroom?

Each year teachers have new and innovative ideas to help keep their students engaged in these lean times. Thanks to the Bright Ideas Grant Program teachers across North Carolina are now using an assortment of classroom aids, kits and technology.
