South River EMC is one of the electric cooperatives working with the Cooperative Council of North Carolina, to offer the Cooperatives for Community patch program.
Through this program, girl and boy scouts, ages 7-16, have the opportunity to learn about cooperatives by visiting one. You will tour the facility, as well as receiving booklets with activities that must be completed to obtain the patch. We can work with groups Monday through Friday, typically 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Our program involves some indoor and outdoor activities, weather permitting.
You can contact us at connections@sremc.com, or by calling 910-892-8071, to schedule a visit or visit www.ccnc.coop/scouting-patch.html (link is external), to be matched with a cooperative local to you to present the program.
You can get a feel for the program by looking through the patch activity booklet. Find the amount of activities you’ll need to complete for your patch by turning to page 5. Remember, if you sign up, you will receive a copy of the booklet when you visit your Cooperative.
Once you complete your activities, you’ll be ready for your patches, which you can get by visiting and clicking on “Have you completed the program? Get your free patch here! (link is external)”
